Financial Institutions Fall In Domino Effect

(Sept. 15, New York, New York) As the Category II hurricane, Ike, blasted the living hell out of east Texas, a storm of greater velocity, intensity and lethal power landed on Wall Street. And no one saw it coming?? Deja Vu: a bit too familiar after our bloated, negligent federal government failed to “connect the dots” prior to September 11, 2001 or, realize, recognize and respond as Katrina decimated a major American city. Heckofajob, boys!

Some of the most venerable of this country’s financial institutions failed to see just how vulnerable they were. Foreign debt, a war of intention that drained our economy, a pitifully devalued dollar and the door was open to a huge transfer of money out of America into the hands of countries, ruled ruthlessly by people who really don’t like us all that much. Hopefully, someone on the global market snatched up Crawford Texas. Ole’ Georgie W. ought to be living in a lean-to once his insane, meglomanic, illiterate ass is vacated from the White House.

This calamity did not begin with the sub-prime mortgage schemes nor with the life rope tossed to Bear Sterns a scant number of weeks ago. No. This avalanche began long ago when blue-blooded yankees trying to pawn themselves off as West Texas oil barons got in the drivers seat. Ever since, big business has flourished while the entire “middle class”, the very back bone of our economy, was swept away in the winds of greed.

Ask Paul O’Neill. He knew, he saw what was coming and he could not participate in the shell game. He wrote a book to clear his soul and the Bush / Rove machine steam rolled him into a sorry discredited heap.

Within the last eight weeks what has transpired? After Bear Sterns it was Fannie May and Freddie Mac. Today it is the stalwarts of Wall Street for better than a century; Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, and AIG. How much wealth was vaporized today? Who knows. How many gold lined CEO parachutes were deployed: that’s a number easy to figure out.

While it should have captured every working person in this land months ago, today may finally have turned some blue collar heads. What Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Pearl, have perpetrated upon this country will not be fully realized for decades. If every chit the USA has out on “the market” was called in tonight; by sunrise every one of us would be speaking Mandarin, wearing turbans or both. Frankly, the most generous, gracious in victory, noble country ever known is now a welfare mom trying to feed the kids as the ceiling collapses.

God Bless America.
